About Laetisia Carter

District Councillor Laetisia Carter grew up in Leafield, west Oxfordshire and attended Burford School before going on to study sociology at Liverpool University.  Laetisia moved back to west Oxfordshire following the birth of her son in 2012 and now lives in Chipping Norton with her husband, 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter. 

Laetisia recently worked for the NHS, where her role was to commission projects which improve mental health services in innovative and creative ways.

As a Community Liaison Officer with Thames Valley Police she advised senior officers on community tension to promote community cohesion. She then delivered a national programme to improve engagement throughout Thames Valley. 

Laetisia is deputy leader of the West Oxfordshire District Council Labour group and takes great pride as being one of three elected memebers to represent Chipping Norton at the Disitrict Council.  Laetisia is a keen advocate for public services and has fought hard to retain childrens centres, stop the reduction of NHS services, and lobbied for appropiate development at suitable sites amonst other things.

Laetisia has also assisted a number of vulnerable people and families in seeking help, advise and housing.

When not sitting on West Oxfordshire Disitrict Council Laetisia is a committee member of the Chipping Norton Theatre and recently became a governer at the Ace Children's Centre.

Laetisia has: 
  • 7 years working for the NHS as a Commisioner and Project Manager in mental health
  • 4 years working for Thames Valley Police in community liason
  • 2 yeas with the Courts Service enhancing links with the local community
  • 4 years experience as an elected District Councillor for Chipping Norton
